ERIN CHOI
With her extraordinary voice, inimitable charm and passion for music, Erin has the uncanny ability to turn a special occasion into a sublimely memorable affair .
Born in Canada, Erin began her classic vocal training at sixteen studying privately with the distinguished Soprano and teacher Katusha-Tsui Fraser. At the age of 16, Erin received one of the most distinguished music scholarships awarded by the Hong Kong Music and Speech associations which encouraged her to further her music education abroad. With ABRSM Grade 8 singing and ABRSM Grade 6 piano under her belt she then continued her musical education at McGill University in Montreal under the tutelage of the great baritone Winston Purdy achieving a Minor in Musical Education and becoming a key chorus member with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra and St. Lawrence Choir . Erin toured Canada with the St Lawrence as a soloist singing at numerous occasions of the likes of the New York Carnegie Hall in New York. After she graduated from McGill, Erin further ed her music studies with Chen Qi-Lian at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and participated in three national classical competitions across the country , and was commended as one of the up and coming talents in the genre.
Since then, Erin has performed as a soloist and choir member all over the world at private concerts in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore and London and has held many memorable roles including Gilbert & Sullivan’s Lady Ella in Patience and Fairy Celia in Iolanthe and Mozart’s Pagageno and Papagena duet . Erin is also a keen church choir member renowned for her oratorio repertoire.
From Baroque to Broadway, Erin’s repertoire covers a wide spectrum of genres. She is as at home with opera, oratorio, German lieder and French chanson as she is with Chinese folk songs and contemporary music .
